JCC's consulting is tuned to the client's needs. Here are some examples:

• Applications: JCC has the necessary resources and experience for design, development, testing, and documentation of sophisticated information storage and retrieval applications. JCC, also, can work in a mentoring relationship or as part of a larger team. JCC is available to review application architectures. JCC's expertise in determining the performance implications of design choices and the interaction of application components are key advantages to data warehouse, production server, web server, or other information resource applications.
• Database Administration: JCC provides resources for database administration in a variety of ways. Full-scale assumption of the database administration responsibilities, contracts for internet and telephone support, emergency on-site aid, performance tuning, mentoring, and training are all available. • Emergency Performance Tuning: JCC is often asked to respond to emergency needs for improved performance from mission critical applications or databases. Although success is never guaranteed, JCC Consultants have never failed to make substantive improvements that have met the need. Some of the situations that have warranted hiring JCC include:
  • a steel mill needed to be taken down, for a full shift, once every three weeks ... for database maintenance
  • a trading floor was stalled and the software failure was reflected in major news stories that threatened international economic impact
  • a company could not ship product, despite the line of trucks at the loading dock, because poor database design was blocking shipment
  • through compound errors, a company lost all access to records of sales and deliveries
  • a software company expecting to do a major release discovered that, with realistic data volumes, the product didn't scale well
  For each of these cases and others, JCC Consultants have met the need.
• Planned Performance Tuning: JCC is also available for guidance in tuning important databases and applications before the problems become critical. This service is less frequently used than the emergency one, but is significantly easier on everyone.
• Training and Education: JCC offers seminars, both at client sites and as public offerings. JCC seminars are designed to teach an understanding as well as specific syntax. A listing of prepared courses, schedules, and other seminar information is available separately. JCC also tailors seminars or creates new seminars to meet specific needs. JCC consulting, where appropriate, is done with an additional goal of technology transfer to the client's own personnel.
• Conversions: JCC is valuable to clients for conversions from one set of computer hardware, one set of tools, one database platform, or one application to another. JCC has tools that assist understanding the current uses and minimize the difficulties of the transition period.
• Data Juggling: JCC's LogMiner Loader and JCC expertise are also valuable in moving data from one data resource to another on a continuing basis. This is valuable for internet data access, distribution of data to remote resources, exchange of data among resources, rolling up regional data resources, data warehouses, data copies for emergency recovery, realistic workloads for application tuning and testing, and numerous other uses.
